Geez, it's been well over a month since I've posted on here and boy has that time flown by so fast. So much has happened in my life, I've barely had a second to sit down and breath on my own. Came back to University a month early for training for my job on campus this year. I...
So I went through a pretty shit breakup a while ago. It was a mess. I was extremely heart broken and depressed. I fell into a hole that I thought would be impossible to get out of. I locked myself in my room, stopped eating, and basically became this shell of a human, going through the necessary motions...
Growing up is weird. I'm totally with Peter Pan sometimes cause choosing to never grow up sounds pretty nice. Sadly, this is not Neverland, something I have to come to terms with on a daily basis. We all have to grow up in some way and be adults and do adult things. After coming home from college for...
Eleanor and Park was one of the more real romantic novels out of everything I've read so far. It wasn't a sugar coated fantasy relationship like one would normally expect. This books showed what it really feels like to fall in love for the first time and the heartbreak that can go along with that. The story follows two "misfits" in high school as they get to know and fall for each other despite the flaws other students ridicule them for. The book is written switching back and forth between the two perspectives, Eleanor and Park, so the reader gets to see how they are each experiencing this friendship and romance. Like I said, it isn't a sugar coated love story, there was a dark aspect to the book, seeing how hard these kids lives can be at home. The emotional stress that the pressures of life can put on them. It was all so beautifully written, I know I will go searching for some more Rainbow Rowell to add to my bookshelf.
I really fell in love with this novel and will probably add it to my list of favorites. Personal best read for the summer, but I can't wait to dive into a new one.

The skater skirt has alway been that piece of clothing that I look at and think "I could do that" and guess what, I did. Just with two measurements and a little bit of trial and error I figured out how to make a fully functional skirt. Boom. Everything you need: - waist measurement and waist to how...
As much as we hate to admit it, we are all constantly on our phones. It's not one of the things our generation is particularly proud of, but it isn't something we can deny either. So I thought I might just share a couple of the apps I have on my phone that aren't really members of the...
So I feel like a really don't need to actually review this one. Being that I am probably the last person over the age of 12 alive today to read this, I'm going to skip the review and just post this to prove that I Julia Carrington, at the age of 18, have finally read a Harry Potter book. I no longer have to embarrassingly admit to never reading the books and having people be shocked by that and look down on me. And yes the book is better than the movie. Now I feel like I need to go out and buy the rest and read them all. But, I will hold off on that for a while for the sake of this blog. Don't want to use up the remainder of my 12 posts all on Harry Potter books when there are so many others I want to read. I still have my stack I ordered from amazon last summer so on to the next one of those.

I've been meaning to read this book for a very long time. Saw the movie a few years back when it first came out and really liked the story. Coming back and reading the book was a great idea. Written a week after the author, Ned Vizzini, spent five days in a psychiatric hospital, the plot of this novel is very inspiring. It is about a teenage boy struggling with depression and after an attempt to kill himself, checks into a mental hospital. The cast of characters within the hospital each teach him something about the worth of life by just getting to know them. This novel gives the reader a very different out look on life and how we should treat it, no matter what struggles we are going through. Funny, sad, and thought provoking, "It's Kind of a Funny Story" was a great read that I would highly recommend.
I have a lot more time on my hands now so I've been reading a lot more in my free time so that means I'll be powering through these a tad bit faster, almost done with book four already.
until then,

For the past few years Disneyland has been opening the park for a full 24 hours to kick off the summer. This was their third year with this tradition and my third year going, but the first year where I had no school that day so we could actually go for the full 24. It was a crazy...
